Bimjo's outer bevel presets: round 2

The Second Generation Files

Unlike their predecessors, these outer bevel files will not change the background color of your graphic, unless you use a different color than the color in the file name.

NOTE: These presets are applied to the "background" instead of the text you laid down. This makes them a little bit different to apply than most presets for text.

This generation of outer bevel files pick up where the original outbevel shiny files left off. This generation is truer to the Eye Candy model than anything I've done before.

Also unlike the previous files the only touch-up required after using these files is to crop the border off the edge of the graphic after applying the preset to your text.

You can download all the second generation Bimjo outer bevel presets in one file.

applied to texture

I'm going to group all the preset files as a .zip file this time, not list them individually. I'm only going to show a couple of the graphics because except for the differing background colors they are pretty much the same.

These new presets also work well with textured backgrounds. Pick a preset color close to the main color in your background texture. Decrease the tarnish slider setting and increase the height slider setting.

There are 16 presets total in the second generation. One of them should be close to what you need for nearly any background color you can come up with. Download the presets.

If you find that the colors are off a bit when you apply a preset you can try to "fix" it by changing the light, shadow, and tarnish colors. The other major setting that affects the appearance of the final output is the glassiness slider and, to a lesser extent, the reflection slider.

You can adjust the width of the bevel using the radius slider. Changing the bevel shape will provide mixed results. It depends on what "look " you're after. The outline color around the bevel is controlled with the tarnish slider.

Applying a preset to a background color different than what is in the file name results in... well, let's just say you'll get some "interesting" results ;-)

I hope you find these presets useful. As always, any input is appreciated.

Man, this page looks so... sucky!

Yep, because all the formatting on the page is controlled by CSS. You can still see everything the site has to offer, it just looks, well... sucky. You can live with it, or you can do something about it. Assuming you have control over your browser selection and the hardware necessary to upgrade.

If you are looking for alternative browsers that are standards compliant, webstandards.org has a number of options for you to explore. So, go ahead, see what this site really looks like.
